Embroidered Patch - Big Skate - 3.5"

Under normal circumstances, a Big skate’s charming smirk is very rarely seen, as these animals prefer to glide along the seafloor out of sight and mind of predators. In aquariums, they have no issue swimming up against the edge of their exhibits, giving visitors a rare glimpse of their precious smile from below.

This patch is inspired by a short video clip generously provided by my friends at the Ucluelet Aquarium in Ucluelet, B.C. Getting a shot of a sea skate belly in the wild would be extremely challenging and quite stressful for the fish! Thankfully in aquaria, sea skates love to ride up against the glass for viewers to enjoy.
